Confessions of an Internet Addict, Phase 1: The Early Signs

Huh.

Let me preface this by saying that I spend entirely too much time on the internet. Like so many of my (and, I suspect, future) generation, I can't let one day go by and not check at least a dozen websites. And, of course, these are not particularly "enriching" websites- they are filled with captioned cats, craft blogs, vulgar humor and scientific oddities. Yet I love them. They fill a hole in my heart. I have become LOL-dependent! So, when I saw this post on one of my most treasured sites about my favorite artist, I about died.

It makes sense, though. I'm sure bloggers mingle at conferences, exchange business cards, and the like. Cross-promotion is kind of what makes the entire internet work, these days, so why should the blog-o-sphere (do people really call it that?) be any different?

...But yet I still feel that I just caught my parents having sex, or something. Not in a gross way, of course. No, certainly not. It's a secret dream of mine to one day get mentioned on one of my internet-idols' blogs. In the great scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal, but the internet warps significance in odd ways, sometimes. Another reason for the creation of this blog is to give props to the people who, in my opinion, are doin' it right in some way or another. It's like my own, private (but also public), show-and-tell.

That being said, acquaint yourself with Ursula Vernon (and her awesome webcomic, Digger), and definitely check out The Daily What on a regular basis. Your life will become instantly weirder and more hilarious.

Thank you, that is all.

Y'know, I like music. I really do. However, I am not particularly musical. I can barely carry a tune in a basket, and most instruments tend to shiver uncontrollably like chihuahuas when I get near them. That being said, I WANT this thing. Look at all its majesty. God shreds on this axe. Mere mortals are unworthy and cannot touch it lest they burst into flame. Acutally, scratch that. Slash could probably play it. God and Slash, but that's it.

Team Joseph

Ok, kids. Let's talk for a second about Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Wheredidhe... howdidImiss... He's so dashing! I feel like he's the nerdy, kinda quiet kid that no one ever noticed who surprised everyone and turned hot over the summer.  I know he's done a ton of indie movies, which I have yet to delve into (although I did see 500 Days of Summer, which was really good), but seriously! Forget Leo in Inception, that movie is all about JGL for me. C'mon! Rotating hallways!

As if I needed more reasons to love him, here's some footage of him covering Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."

Hot.  There's also footage from this same event of him doing "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." Go find it! It's amazing.

Welcome, friends...

I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey.*

Hello there. I'm glad you're here. I've got a lot to show you. I am a girl who has a lot of ideas, and this is one of them. I wander around picking up a bit of this, and a bit of that, some from here, some from there, and so on, and so forth until my brain is full and I need more storage. The proceeding posts will contain my discoveries, epiphanies, and musings that I feel should be documented before they're lost to the dark corners of my memory.  My basic goal of this blog will be to use it an organizational tool for myself, while also providing ideas and inspiration to whosoever decides to read this crazy person's ramblings. A win-win situation, as they say. Who knows... perhaps, if I leave all my good ideas here, they will mix around and combine to become a Really Great Idea for me to use at a convenient time to my great benefit. That would be nice. At the very least, you'll get see all the weird, awesome, beautiful things that I come across from day to day, and can't help but share.

So, yes. Ahem. For my very first post, I give you, O Internet, this:

IT'S THE BIGGEST GOLDFISH I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Damn.

That's.... a lot of goldfish.
